G9 Defense 5.56 54gr Barrier Blind Hollow Point
Overview
G9 Defense’s 5.56 54gr Barrier Blind Hollow Point (BBHP) is engineered to deliver exceptional barrier penetration, superior expansion, and consistent terminal performance. This solid copper projectile is designed for both defense and predator control, ensuring nearly 100% weight retention and reliability thanks to precise CNC manufacturing.
Key Features
- Caliber: 5.56 NATO
- Bullet Weight: 54 grains
- Construction: Solid Copper
- Muzzle Velocity: Optimized for short-barreled rifles down to 10.3 inches
- Penetration: Consistent 18 inches wound track
- Expansion: Expands 2x to 2.5x caliber upon impact
- Weight Retention: Nearly 100%
- Barrier Performance: Zero to minimal deflection through common barriers
Internal Ballistics
Our meticulous powder selection and bullet design ensure dynamic terminal performance is not compromised by barrel length. The side geometry of the BBHP reduces the bearing surface engaged with the barrel, leading to increased muzzle velocities while maintaining SAAMI standard pressures. This results in a reliable and powerful round suitable for various shooting conditions.
External Ballistics
The 5.56 BBHP’s high muzzle velocity makes it a flatter-shooting round compared to others in its class. This feature, combined with a shorter time of flight to target, aids in more accurate shots on moving targets, giving shooters an edge in both defense and predator control scenarios.
Terminal Ballistics
Upon contact with the intended target, the BBHP expands to 2x to 2.5x its original caliber, creating a consistent 18-inch wound track. The round's nearly 100% weight retention and predictable penetration make it ideally suited for defense and predator control, delivering devastating terminal effects every time.
Barrier Blind Performance
The BBHP stands out in its ability to penetrate common barriers such as windshields and car doors with zero to minimal deflection. After penetrating these barriers, it continues to perform as designed on the intended target, ensuring reliability and effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
Solid Copper Construction
As a non-lead alternative, the BBHP performs better than traditional lead-based projectiles, making it compliant with California law and suitable for use in areas where hunting with lead is prohibited. This environmentally friendly design ensures that game meat is not contaminated with lead, providing a safer option for hunters and the environment.
Ideal Uses
- Defense: Superior barrier penetration and reliable terminal performance make it an excellent choice for personal protection.
- Predator Control: Consistent penetration and expansion ensure ethical and effective take of predator or other small to medium game.

Lethality
I represent coyotes across North America and despite the 5 star review would like to see this product banned. This ammo is absolutely devastating in terms of accuracy and lethality and has become a serious problem for coyotes everywhere it’s used. Please do yourself a favor and use literally any kind of other ammo if you’d like your coyotes to be missed or otherwise get away.
