His father used the rifle for years, primarily in Hells Canyon, Idaho, where the rugged open terrain demands long-range precision. Chambered in 300 WSM, the rifle’s efficiency and versatility made it an easy choice. For a left-handed shooter like Weston, it was a natural fit—especially after his father’s transition to shooting right-handed following an eye issue. The 300 WSM cartridge, celebrated for its manageable recoil and reliable performance on North American game, sealed the deal as a top choice for hunting calibers.

A Trusted Companion in Backcountry and Safari Adventures

This rifle has been Weston’s "set it and forget it" rifle for over 12 years, seeing action across Idaho and Washington. While others have come and gone, it's the one he can pull out of the safe at the beginning of the year, confirm zero, and take to the field. It’s traversed the backcountry by foot, horseback, and jet boat, tackling everything from elk and mule deer to black bears. But its story doesn’t end there—this rifle has also crossed continents, joining Weston on a memorable safari in the Limpopo region of South Africa.

He has had a lot of success with this style of G9 bullet and uses the 145gr BBHP for whitetail hunting chambered in 308 Winchester.
